Former Thai prime minister Shinawatra sold 90% of his shares as the sole owner of Manchester City to Sheikh Mansour for £210m in September 2008. He had wanted to retain a greater shareholding as part of the takeover and enter a partnership. Sheikh Mansour bought the remaining 10% a year later.

Does Mansour own Manchester City?

The company owns Al Jazira Club, which plays football, volleyball, handball, and basketball. The football club won the President's Cup in 2010–2011, 2011–2012 and 2015–2016. In September 2008, Mansour acquired Manchester City from former Thai prime minister Thaksin Shinawatra.
